How to change your password

Last updated: 7 May 2026

What this does

Change your IMPACT account password. IMPACT shows a real-time password strength meter to help you choose a secure password.

Current access and functionality

  • Verified against the current impact-web, impact-client, and impact-marketplace code on 2026-05-07.
  • In impact-web, users must be signed in and working in an active workspace. Navigation and write actions are role-, permission-, and entitlement-aware; unavailable modules are hidden or disabled instead of being universally visible.

Steps

  1. Go to Member Settings (accessible from your profile menu or the Members section).
  2. Click Change Password (or the security/password option).
  3. Enter your Current Password to verify your identity.
  4. Enter your New Password:
    • A strength meter appears as you type, showing one of five levels:
      • Risky (red) — too weak, do not use
      • Guessable (orange) — easy to crack
      • Weak (yellow) — could be stronger
      • Safe (light green) — acceptable
      • Secure (green) — strong password
  5. Enter the new password again in the Confirm Password field.
  6. Click Confirm.
  7. A success message appears. Your password is changed immediately.

You do not need to log out and log back in — the new password takes effect for your next login.

Tips

  • Use the visibility toggle (eye icon) on any password field to temporarily show what you have typed.
  • Aim for a Safe or Secure strength rating. Use a mix of uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and special characters.
  • If you have forgotten your current password, use the Forgot Password link on the login page instead.

Common issues

  • Issue: "Incorrect password" error — Fix: The current password you entered does not match. Try again carefully. If you have forgotten it, use the forgot password flow on the login page.
  • Issue: New password is not accepted — Fix: Ensure the new password meets the minimum requirements and is different from your current password.
  • Issue: "Reset password failed" error — Fix: This is usually a temporary issue. Try again in a few moments. If it persists, contact your administrator.
