How to complete the onboarding process

Last updated: 7 May 2026

What this does

Complete IMPACT's guided onboarding to set up your workspace and learn the platform. The onboarding wizard walks you through 7 steps to get your team, projects, and tools ready.

Current access and functionality

  • Verified against the current impact-web, impact-client, and impact-marketplace code on 2026-05-07.
  • In impact-web, users must be signed in and working in an active workspace. Navigation and write actions are role-, permission-, and entitlement-aware; unavailable modules are hidden or disabled instead of being universally visible.

Before you start

  • You must have an IMPACT account (either you signed up or accepted an invitation). You can sign in with your email and password, or use a supported social login such as Google or Apple.
  • Admins see the full onboarding; staff members see a simplified version based on their role.

The 7 onboarding steps

When you first log in, IMPACT shows the Get Started page with a progress ring tracking your completion.

Steps

Following the guided tour

  1. Navigate to Get Started (shown in the left navigation for new accounts).
  2. Click on a task to begin — IMPACT navigates you to the relevant page.
  3. A coachmark guide appears on the page, pointing out key elements and actions.
  4. Complete the action (e.g., create a project, invite a member).
  5. Return to the Get Started page — the completed step is ticked off and the progress ring updates.
  6. Repeat for all 7 steps.

Skipping ahead

  • You do not have to complete steps in order (except where prerequisites apply).
  • Some steps are locked until prerequisites are met (e.g., you cannot organise a team until you have invited members).
  • You can return to the Get Started page at any time to see your progress.

Tips

  • Complete the onboarding even if you are familiar with similar tools — it introduces IMPACT-specific concepts like the three-stage task workflow.
  • The Dashboard coachmark appears after you complete the main onboarding, teaching you how to customise your dashboard with widgets.
  • Onboarding progress is saved automatically — you can close the browser and resume later.
  • Once all 7 steps are complete, the Get Started page shows a celebration. It will eventually disappear from your navigation as you no longer need it.

Common issues

  • Issue: A step is locked and I cannot start it — Fix: Complete the prerequisite step first. For example, "Organise Team" requires that you have invited at least one member.
  • Issue: I completed a step but it still shows as incomplete — Fix: Make sure you completed the actual action (e.g., saved the project, sent the invitation). Just visiting the page does not count.
  • Issue: Get Started page is not showing — Fix: You may have already completed onboarding in a previous session. Check your dashboard — if it is populated, onboarding is done.
